Storehouse is a non-profit, food distribution program for families in the greater Covington area. We partner with local businesses, civic groups, and schools to ease the burdens of those we serve. Currently 11 local churches partner with us, enabling to serve over 140 families, as well as 11 ministries that provide assistance to rehabilitation houses, homeless, and community dinners.
For more than a decade, the Storehouse has devoted its energy to providing food to families in crisis. It’s our prayer and hope that this food would not only nourish the physical body, but also provide encouragement during challenging times. We work together to continue the mercy ministry of Jesus; feeding the hungry and providing comfort to the poor. We take a non-threatning approach: a simple prayer or blessing is offered along with an ear to listen. The heart of our mission is to love our neighbors by responding to their request for food, prayer and referral to other services that are needed, with dignity and respect. Our motto is to “love until they ask why.”
Walkup Service Hours:
Walkup services are provided on Fridays from 9 to 10AM and Saturdays from 9:15 to 10:15AM. On a weekly basis, people can come and receive a box of food, a friendly face, and a word of prayer.
Friday – 9AM to 10AM
Saturday – 9:15AM to 10:15AM
Covington Water District is a special purpose District, responsible for providing water for approximately 55 square miles of South King County under a Coordinated Water System Plan. The District is roughly bounded by SR-18 on the northwest, the Maple Valley Highway on the northeast, Ravensdale on the east, and the Green River on the south. Cities within our boundaries include Covington, Maple Valley and Black Diamond.
The District was formed in 1960 with fewer than 100 customers, but through mergers of smaller districts and growth now consists of over 17,000 connections. Today the District is governed by a five member Board of Commissioners. The District has a total of 11 production wells, 3 treatment plants, emergency interties with 2 neighboring agencies, 20.5 million gallons of storage in steel tanks at seven sites throughout the District, and over 267 miles of pipeline.
The District’s water supply consists of groundwater via our production wells allotted to us by the State of Washington (our Water Right), and surface water from the Green River Watershed via the Regional Water Supply System (RWSS). The District has been a partner in the RWSS since 2002 and started receiving water from behind the Howard Hanson Dam in 2006.
