Senator Joe Fain represents the 47th Legislative District in the Washington Legislature. A fourth-generation Washingtonian, Fain has been serving South King County residents for more than a decade.

In 2010 Fain was elected to the state Senate, where he serves on the Transportation, Early Learning and K-12 Education, Financial Institutions, Housing and Insurance and Rules committees. Fain also serves as chair of the Legislative Evaluation and Accountability Program Committee.

Fain has quickly become a leader on transportation and education. He serves on the transportation budget-writing team and as the Senate Majority Floor Leader.

After only three years in office Fain has been widely recognized for his efforts on a variety of issues, including as an “Emerging Leader on Developmental Disabilities” by the ARC of King County’s Parent Coalition, as a “Guardian of Small Business” by the National Federation of Independent Businesses, with the “Spirit of Community Award” from the Kent Parent Teacher Association, as “2012 Government Employee of the Year” by the Kent Chamber of Commerce, by the Children’s Alliance as a 2013 Legislative Champion, and by the Aerospace Futures Alliance as 2013 Legislator of the Year.

Fain is an active community member and serves on the board of directors for Auburn Youth Resources, the Auburn Public Schools Foundation, and the Highline Community College Foundation. He also was an award-winning high school swim coach for the Highline and Renton school districts.

Prior to his election Fain served more than a decade in local government, most recently as chief of staff for District 7 of the King County Council. In 2008 he sponsored a county-wide reform initiative, which passed overwhelmingly to make King County Council positions non-partisan.

Fain earned his juris doctorate and master of business administration degrees from Seattle University after graduating from the University of Washington with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He lives in Auburn with his wife Steffanie.

Soos Creek Water & Sewer District (SCWSD) has served the residents of southeast King County since 1939.  We are a municipal corporation formed when Water District 58 and Cascade Sewer District merged in 1987.

In 1939 we began with a few hundred customers in an area of less than 2 square miles.  We now provide water and sewer services to almost 100,000 people living and working across 35 square miles.

Our water comes from Seattle Public Utilities via Lake Youngs, which is adjacent to the District’s office.  The sanitary sewer system conveys wastewater to King County’s South Treatment plant in Renton for treatment and disposal.
