2021 Good Work Fund Projects

January 2021

  • $25 for soup to help kick off The Soup-er Bowl Food Drive at The Storehouse (Feb. 8)
  • $75 in gift cards from Chick-fil-A, Wendy’s and Legendary Doughnuts to be given to three families as a special treat when they pick up groceries from The Storehouse food bank.
  • $150 in gift cards from The Rock and Applebee’s to be used as prizes for people who participate in the #lovethecov Heart Hunt.

February 2021

A $125 gift card from Legendary Doughnuts went to Real Kids Learning, a Covington child care and early learning center which has stayed open throughout COVID so parents had child care, so they could work. In the last year, none of the center’s 70 children or 17 staff have contracted COVID. WAY TO GO! Thanks to Rod Meyers and his staff for keeping our kids safe. Enjoy some SWEET treats on us!

We also delivered $125 in boxed lunches from Chick-fil-A to UW-Valley’s Lifestyle Medicine Center, powered by Pinnacle, to thank them for supporting their patients through the pandemic.

March 2021

This year has been a particularly difficult year for our businesses. We couldn’t visit them all, but we visited 26 local businesses to tell them we appreciate them and we are here for them.

May 2021

St. John the Baptist offers a Safe Car Parking program for homeless individuals and families living in their vehicles. The program offers a safe place to park and overnight security. The Good Work Fund provided $250 in gas and grocery gift cards to help these support the homeless.

June 2021

Bicycle Rescue for Youth, a nonprofit that restores bicycles for kids and teens, is always in need of bike helmets. In June, we donated 22 youth helmets to help keep them safe.

August 2021

We donated $200 to Red Canoe Credit Union’s Fill the Canoe school supply drive, which they’ll match with $200. We also donated $200 to Communities in Schools-Kent’s Fill the Bus school supply drive. All donations will benefit students in the Kent School District.

October 2021

In October, we made a $250 donation to Birthday Dreams, a local nonprofit that brings hope, joy and a sense of self-worth to homeless children with the gift of a birthday party. With our donation, Birthday Dreams was able to give two homeless children complete birthday boxes.

November 2021

Our latest project was donating full-size toiletries and cleaning supplies (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, dish soap and sponges, laundry soap) to clients of the Maple Valley Food Bank and Emergency Services, a Chamber member and valued resources for the greater Covington community. We delivered the supplies to executive director Lindsey Habenicht on November 16, 2021!

December 2021

In December, we partnered with Thrive Wellness Clinic to provide coats, hats and gloves for their “No Cold Kids” campaign.
